How hard was it to get permission from the local government to use the Lulling field if I may ask? I ask as until last Sunday I was flying rockets from the Spillway but got what I will forever call the "October Sky" lecture from a St. Charles Parish Sheriff and an Army Corps of Engineer official about how dangerous model rockets are.

They obviously just plain didn't want you to be flying rockets there period. They probably really don't care how safe model rockets are or how safe you were being. Much less if you were a member of NAR, the amount of insurance you have. I think they should have allowed you to demonstrate the safety of model rocketry and maybe let them have a little hands-on with it.

I think probably someone reported you or complained naggingly so they had to go out there and give a lecture. Probably boils down to liability. If you got hurt, whether it be your fault or not, they may have been thinking you might sue someone.

As for the Luling field, I think Whitney got permission from the landowner. I may be mistaken though.

Anyway... Welcome to the forum!
